My Writing Journey so far.

 Welcome back to my writing journey!

    We are back now for an update. In my previous blog, I expressed my desire to start writing and hope to achieve as an established writer. So what have I done or what efforts have I put into it till now?

    A major question most of them will have is - "was this an one-off or will she continue writing"


    It is very easy to let this fall through the cracks and forget and move on with life thinking of this as an blip. But no, I'm not doing that, I'm determined to see through this through the end. I will not give up.

What inspired me to write?


    I have to be honest with you people, I first got the inspiration to write, to get something published with my name on it from a professional journal of my institute. If you read my bio, you will all know I'm a qualified finance professional - yes - I'm a Chartered Accountant -and our institute ICAI has a monthly journal for its students and members.

    I was suddenly filled with the burning need to write an article and get it published. It was all I could think of for days. I quickly decided on a topic that is interest enough and not discussed in the forums yet. It was something that I was working on also, so that covered all the basic research I required. I started writing - planned the topic, the overlay, the heading set-ups, the contents, what can make it interesting and everything. I did all this in say max 3-5 days. That's how much my sudden interest was. I was soo involved I put in research to ensure the good quality content. 
    And I'm happy to say, that my article got approved for publication in the journal. You can never comprehend the joy that I had when I saw the mail. I'm still waiting for the next edition to come out to see my work in real. I'm be sure to give you guys a link of the published article for your reference.

Not the end of story here

    And this is also not the end of my writing journey. I did extensive research to find out what are the various avenues available with me for me to write and is there any opportunities over here to make it so that I earn by it also.

    I did put great effort in all this. I spent time thinking of a nice pen name that goes along with a slogan. And then again, took too much time and after visiting and checking out too many websites, designed a logo of my liking. 
    



    Then I came across few websites that were interesting and have taken it up to explore.

Blogger


    Obviously you all know one of my choice. I decided to try my hand writing a blog of my personal experiences and to kind of document my writing journey - the ups and downs I faced, the flops and the wins I achieved and just for the purpose of writing something to my heart's content. Just write and think of all the other after that.


    This is a really good experience for me till now. It gives me a place to write down all my thoughts just as they pass through my mind. This is a great avenue to start your writing journey as a beginner. This gives you a reader base over time and you also get to know how it is to write online.

HubPages

    The first place that I went to post my research to write online was HubPages. It is a beautiful website which is very easy to set-up and the writing part was also made ever so easy for a newbie.
    

    HubPages gave me a confidence in two ways - with their articles to encourage me writing and then with their ease of use to motivate me write.

How can I earn writing?

    So now, in HubPages we have a Ad-revenue program and an amazon affiliate program that will pay you based on the ads placed in the "hubs" (articles are called hubs in HubPages) and any products that are purchased from amazon through your affiliate link. It is lucrative business, but one I'm sure will take a very long time to actually pick up on the traffic you get to earn even something substantial.



What have I written?

    So as of now, I've written two articles in HubPages, both of which got a nice hub score and currently my author score in 81 which is excellent. I'm writing what I think will be nice and will pick up on the traffic. 

    Above you will find the two articles that I have written till now. I'm feeling good about this as I think in time I will go somewhere with this.

     So I know there are a lot of similar blogs out there. But please, bear with and experience with my my journey of becoming an writer from an reader.
